You win some, you lose some || Day 8 & 9

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes if you’re lucky, it rains.

It’s been ridiculously hot here in the city these past few days, so much so that on my 8th day of the challenge I just couldn’t get myself to run. The heat was too much for me to handle. From the minute I woke up to the moment I was about to head to sleep, I could feel the heat.

Day 8 was hard for me because the heat really took a toll on me and prevented me from going out for a run.  I had to fuel up and hydrate well, but still just couldn’t get myself to run. So I took a day off, took it as my rest day since I haven’t done this much running in my life. Come the morning of Day 9 though, I thought I wouldn’t get to run as well because the heat that morning was horrible. That plus I woke up too early and could not go back to sleep left me a bit tired.

I ate my passionfruit and brought my sister to school which was already at 9:30am, which meant the heat was even worse, but I managed to get myself to run. I think my running is improving from the first day, but I can’t tell because of the uphills, and the fact that I always take different routes, which means the difficulty often changes.

It was so hot, and I just wanted to swim in a cold pool to rid my body of the heat. I carried on and almost hit the 4km mark in my 30min run.

The day continued on being extremely hot, until after lunch at around 1:30 or 2pm, it started to rain. It was glorious! I was waiting for the rain to come for how many days because that kind of heat should be followed by beautiful cold rain. I have never been so happy for rain because I normally hate it. But that day was different, and because I was so happy, I ran outside and danced in the rain. It was thrilling, and just amazing to have those drops of water fall on your skin after all the heat we’ve been going through. The dance in the rain was so energizing, and I just took it all in. The rain was so strong, and so refreshing that I just took the moment to sit and take in the energy from the rain. After that, I had the best bath I’ve had in a long time and everything after just felt good.

Day 8

What I ate today:

Breakfast: Honeydew Melon, Star Apple, Mango

Lunch: Coodles with Creamy Tomato Basil sauce topped with Grape Tomatoes and Green Onion, and a couple of Dates

Dinner: 2L Raw Coco

I wasn’t really craving fruit during lunch so I made myself a savory meal (without any salt), although it was quite high in fat. I like to balance out my fat intake anyway, and since most days are super low in fat, it didn’t affect me too much. I made a huge bowl of refreshing coodles and had some dates for dessert which was just perfect!

Day 9

Today’s Run:

Time: 30mins

Distance: 3.94km

Location: UP Diliman

What I ate today:

Breakfast: Passionfruit, Pineapple

Lunch: Red Juice, lots of Saba Bananas

Dinner: MangonaRAW Zoodles/Coodles

For some strange reason I haven’t been craving food all that much, it might have just been the heat, but I wouldn’t really be in the mood to eat sometimes which is why I would just make lots of juice, or blend up some coco. Come dinner time though I was ready for a huuuuge bowl of goodness! I originally started off with just 2 huge zucchinis in my dinner, but since I had extra sauce I added 2 spiralized cucumbers. Yummm!!!

Since it’s been extremely hot lately, and it’s only the beginning since summer summer has just begun her in the Philippines, make sure to drink lots of water and eat hydrating food!
Peace and Love,
